Pres Kufuor Opens G8/NEPAD Summit

President Kufuor has opened a G8/NEPAD Summit at La Palm Royal Hotel.
President of the Equatorial Guinea, Nguema Obiang Mbasogo, chaired the function, which discussed, among other things, a Comprehensive Africa Agricultural Development Programme.
Later, President Nguema took the opportunity to visit the Kofi Annan Peacekeeping Training Centre and Ghana Military Academy and Training School both at Teshie.
President Nguema praised President Kufuor and Ghana for their role in peacekeeping and training of peacekeeping personnel.
He expressed his readiness to recommend the use of the facility at the Kofi Annan Centre for the training of police and military and diplomatic personnel of his country.
President Nguema pledged to donate One Hundred Thousand US Dollars to support the centre's activities.
President Kufuor, on his part, thanked him for his donation and appreciation of the efforts Ghana is making in peacekeeping training in the West African sub-region and for the whole Africa.
He hoped that the young officers and the peacekeeping personnel from Equatorial Guinea who come to Ghana to use the two facilities would derive immense benefits form the services of the two institutions.
