Mampong lads emerge champions

Mampong School for the Deaf emerged champions of the National Special Schools Sports Festival, which ended at the Wa Secondary School field.
The Mampong lads won both the boys and girls athletics and soccer trophies whilst the Cape Coast School for the Deaf won the boys and girls volleyball competitions and placed second in the over-all standings.
Sekondi School for the Deaf were the second runners-up after winning the second position in the volleyball boys and girls' events and second runners-up in soccer.
The Bechem, Adjei Kojo, Hohoe, Wa, Kibi, Savelugu, Gbeogu, Jamasi and Koforidua schools followed in that order.
Twelve schools for the deaf participated in the five-day event which was opened by Deputy Upper West Region Minister Mr George Benson, on behalf of the Minister of Education and Sports, Mr Yaw Osafo-Maafo.
