Ivesment into GPS is in good use……Kufuor

President JA Kufuor has said the heavy investment which government has invested in the Ghana Police Service (GPS) has not been in vain.

The president said the investment into the GPS is yielding incredible results in the nation.

Speaking at the 38th graduation of 85 Cadet Officers in Accra, he said "the police have not only succeeded in the general keeping of law and order in the country, but have also won the confidence of many communities.

He mentioned that the police are making impressive inroads into the hideout of hardened criminals in the country.

President J A Kufuor sated that government has intended to maintain its policy of enhancing operational efficiency of the police service through recruitment and training of more police personnel, a steady increases in logistic support, and various re-training programmes for serving policemen and improvement in their general welfare.

He assured the police of better serving condition and urged them to work hard in defending their nation Ghana.

The 85 Cadet Officers graduated were taken through six moths intensive training in criminal law, criminal procedure, law of evidence, criminal investigations, Acts and Decrees, practical police duties, ethics, fundamental of human behaviour, computer literacy and others.

The 85 police personnel will now have the title of Assistant Superintendents of police (ASP) with a symbol of two stars on their shoulders.
