Supporters of the Kumasi Asante Kotoko have been called upon to unite so that they can fight for a common goal.
Mr Jerry Kwame Asare, director of Special Operations of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, made the call at the end of a one-day football gala played at Teshie in Accra on Saturday, to commemorate the first anniversary celebration of Circle 142, Teshie- Nungua Supporters Union of the club.
Circle 151, Mamobi beat Circle 121, Sakumono 1-0 in the finals to emerge champions in the competition sponsored by Mr G.K. Adarkwa, a patron of Kotoko.
Mamobi defeated Tema Circle 12, 1-0, while Sakumono beat Circle 142, Teshie 1-0. Mr Asare said unity played a very important role in every union or society and that without unity, no organisation could grow.
He charged the management of Kotoko to stop the frequent changes of directors of the club since it is doing a lot of harm to the club.
Mr Michael Cofie, chairman of Circle 142, called on the supporters to rally behind the club to enable it to rediscover its former glory as one of the best teams in Africa.
He thanked the patrons of the union for their immense contributions towards making the union what it is today.
Mr Cofie advised the supporters to remain calm at sport stadiums even when the going gets tough.
The Regional Circles chairman, Mr Eben Nunufio said the competition, which would be an annual affair would involve all the circles throughout the country next year.
A dinner would be held on a later date to climax the anniversary. GNA
