RTU to get new bus

GNA | Posted: Monday, May 09, 2005

Northern Region Minister Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Saddique has assured Real Tamale United (RTU) he would do everything possible to ensure that the team gets a new bus to solve the club's transportation problems.

"It has come to my notice that the old bus occasionally breaks down either during transporting players and officials to or from match venues, which I know affects the club's performance," he said.

The minister was speaking to the GNA after the RTU-AshGold GT Premier league match at the Kaladan Park, which RTU won by a lone goal.

Alhaji Abubakar Saddique who was in the company of Alhaji Malik Alhassan Yakubu, MP for Yendi and Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, were greeted with thunderous cheers from the supporters who shouted in "We want a bus, Mr Minister do something for RTU before you go" and "Minister, RTU needs your support to strive harder".

He said investing in RTU was one of his aims, and that he would do "everything possible to ensure that the team gets a bus".

"I will not promise as to when the bus will come but the team will surely get a new bus to reduce the stress players and officials go through during matches," he added.

Alhaji Saddique, however, advised the fans to discipline themselves during matches so that individuals and NGOs could invest in the team.
