Poultry houses now turn churches

A few days ago, I was driving on the link road alongside the poultry farm "Akokorfoto" which former Head of State, Gen I.K. Acheampong most probably built to serve the new township of Dansoman in the 1970s.
Indeed, what a good idea it was for a poultry farm of the size to be located near such a vast township!
Even before the township was completed, hundreds of residents of other Accra suburbs came to know Dansoman because they were there to buy chicken!
The vast land and the buildings including even a silo for animal feed are there now wasting, as we are complacent with ten years old frozen chicken from other lands.
Very soon our chicken will not even know the succulent taste of freshly slaughtered chicken especially the free-range or house chicken!
The next time you pay a visit to your hometown or village, you may be surprised to note that you are not woken up by the crow of a cock!
We are all busy eating frozen chicken and do not go near chicken as our last generation used to do.
But coming back to Acheampong's "Akokorfoto", I was shocked to find that one of breeding houses specially built has been converted to a prayer house for one of the new churches!
It would not be long before somebody will emerge to say Acheampong government did not pay any compensation to the landowners, and therefore he should be allowed to sell it to estate developers!
Is it not a pity that such a project could be on the ground?
One request I will make to the men of God who have bought a poultry farm to hold prayers is that they should pray for all its followers to breed chicken and manifest Christ that way.
Hard honest work is the way to Christ and not everyday prayer.
