Commission on Africa meeting ends in London

A five-day conference on Commission on Africa has been held in London.

The conference discussed the implementation of the report on the Commission on Africa, which is being championed by the British government. The recommendation revolved around Good Governance, Poverty Reduction and Meeting the Millennium Development Goals.

On Good Governance, Ghana was commended for being the first country to be reviewed under the African Peer Review Mechanism process of the NEPAD Initiative.

Ghana is to benefit tremendously from the report on the Commission on Africa.

The implementation of the report would be discussed in London during the G8 Summit to be hosted by the British government, which heads the European Union as well as the Chairman of G8.

The British government has decided to support the implementation of good governance for African countries and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.

Ghana's Minister for Regional Cooperation and NEPAD Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku attended the conference at the invitation of the British government.
