NGO to organize National Repentance Day for Liberia

| Posted: Tuesday, July 12, 2005

A Ghanaian-based Non-Governmental Organization would later this year organize a National Repentance Day for Liberia.

Mr Peter Anamoh, Leader of the Machaira of the Pneuma Foundation, the NGO, told a press conference in Accra that what Liberia needed as a nation was not political or economic help but spiritual healing. "Liberia must be bathed again... to be cleansed of all unrighteousness, especially blood guilt."

Mr Anamoh, who claimed the Lord spoke to him about three weeks ago on building a new Liberia, said the Lord was so concerned of the "blood guilt" against women and children because it was the men that caused it.

"As a servant of the Lord I have to be obedient. We are challenged to call for national repentance so as to uplift Liberia before God for Him to have mercy upon the people of the land."

The Machaira of the Pneuma Foundation had an objective of responding to God's calling to uplift the spiritual and physical needs of the peoples of the world, Mr Anamoh said.

The Foundation would also organize a National Repentance Day in the Liberian capital, Monrovia, where the citizens could repent and pray for a peaceful and prosperous Liberia before the elections in October, he said.

The Reverend Aloysius Kpadeh, Chairman of the Budumburam Council of Churches and Missions, said the people of Liberia in Ghana were not surprised when they heard the revelation. "We welcome what God has said and we want to be part of it."

Ms Alice Abraham, Chairperson of the Liberia Refugee Welfare Council, said the people longed to go back home and welcomed the idea.

She commended the Ghana Government for hosting the people of Liberia for the past 15 years. Ms Abraham also apologized on behalf of Liberians, who had offended any Ghanaian in any way.
