WAR IN GHANA!

| Posted: Monday, July 25, 2005

Somebody may consider the above headline as ironic and absurd because we don't hear gunshots, flow of innocent blood, cry of women and children. But giving a critical analysis about the situation in the country, one may derive something sensible out of it.

Peace in its deeper meaning connotes an atmosphere of total tranquility in all spheres of life. Ghana cannot boast of being one of the most peaceful countries in Africa and the world at large, unless more positive signs are seen in her economy.

How can we boast of peace when the average Ghanaian cannot even afford three square meals daily? How then can we talk of peace when our (so-called) future leaders are roaming our streets with no formal education? They struggle between moving vehicles to make ends meet.

The high cost of living Ghanaians are facing with the declining standard of living is the war I am referring to. Some of our leaders have turned deaf ears and blind eyes to the economic war in Ghana. They claim to seek the interest of the Ghanaian but they tend to seek their selfish gains.

This special war in Ghana cannot be curbed with unrealistic policies that have been on paper for decades; but with the "peace troops " of hard work, honesty, creativity, and positive attitude towards work and other virtues on the part of every Ghanaian, we can achieve a victory of economic independence, social stability and industrial superiority.

Let all Ghanaians from the highest in status to the lowest contribute fairly to bring absolute peace in Ghana. That is the only way we can boast of real peace in our mother Ghana. GOD BLESS GHANA, LONG LIVE GHANA! Rosetta Agyapong Jayee Institute Accra.
