A. R. Harruna Attah writes on...Letter to Kwami (20)

Kwami, I did mention to you that this correspondence is becoming bigger than I expected. I could not resist the temptation of sharing with you the reaction below (incidentally from another ADM friend).
Dear Harruna, Your column is a good read, especially your letters to Kwami. Things are a little depressing these days regarding the way some of our politicians, social commentators, serial callers are handling the business of politics.
I read with dismay the raving and ranting of NDC stalwarts at their recent rally. I was amazed to find how deep they had descended into the gutter just to score political points. Figuratively, good thinking Ghanaians who love their country will have to step back in order not to get splashed from the sewage.
There are so many serious issues confronting us as a nation. We all need to put our shoulders to the wheel. One can criticize but still be constructive. It’s not about us; it’s about the future we intend to hand over to our children and future generations.
I think when we end each day by looking in the mirror and asking ourselves “What have I done to further the cause of Ghana’s development today?”, we shall then realize how important our words and deeds help to make or break our growing democracy. I am on my way to purchase a mirror.
By the way what makes one a patriot? Regards. Dela “Maxi” Gadegbeku
