Fatal road accidents
Omanhene expresses concern

GNA | Posted: Thursday, September 01, 2005

The Omanhene of the Awutu Traditional Area, Abokuadi Whettey Agyemang Otabil III, has expressed concern about the spate of motor accidents in the country and advised drivers plying the reconstructed Kasoa-Winneba Junction road to handle their vehicles with care. He said that is the only way they can save the lives of the thousands of people who travel on the road everyday.

The Paramount Chief was addressing his subjects at Awutu-Beraku to mark this year's annual Awubia festival of the chiefs and people in the Traditional Area.

He said the reconstructed road was to prolong the life span of vehicles and to ensure safe driving and not to serve as a "slaughter house" to kill the people.

Abokuadi Agyemang Otabil charged parents to stop their children from patronising video cinema shows since it was one of the major factors contributing to immorality among the youth.

He also charged Chiefs in the Traditional Area to enact by-laws to fight indiscipline, which was destroying the nation.

Abokuadi Agyemang Otabil appealed to the Government to create a separate District for the Awutu area before the 2008 general elections.
