| Posted: Thursday, September 01, 2005
Three communities in the Ejisu-Juaben district of Ashanti are to benefit from the Small Water System Project under the Town Four Water Project.
Making the announcement at an emergency meeting of the assembly to approve its supplementary budget at Ejisu, Mr Yaw Ahenkora Afrifa, District Chief Executive, said the project being jointly undertaken by the Government and the European Union (EU) is estimated at about ¢8 billion for Kwaso, Onwe, and Kwamo.
He said the assembly had already paid its counter-part funding of ¢600 million. Mr Afrifa said ¢1.7 billion out of the ¢7.2 billion allocated to the district from District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) for this year, would be used for the on-going projects.
He said the assembly would in addition spend about ¢2.3 billion on new projects in education, health, water and sanitation sectors.
The Presiding Member of the assembly, Mr Michael Dwomoh Sarpong, thanked the members for their co-operation and understanding.
