Senior Golf Championship won

Joe Odei, Etwi-barimah win Goil Senior Golf Championship Brigadier Joseph Odei of Achimota and Florence Etwi-Barimah of Tema have won the coveted men's and ladies title of the Ghana Oil Company's (GOIL) sponsored 17th Ghana Seniors Amateur Golf Open Championship held at the Tafo Golf Course on Sunday.
Marshell Pendegrass who lost on count-back to Brigadier Odei took the second position while Isaac Gyasi came third with a gross score of 176 to beat Adu Gyamfi and Albert, Brock on count-back.
Florence Etwi Barimah won the Ladies category with 168 gross, Joy Arkutu came second with 182 gross while Shuppi Mapuranga took the third position with 208 gross.
The two-day 36-Hole Scratch event was opened to senior golfers aged 55 years and sponsored by Goil Ghana Limited.
Mr. P.K. Amoabeng, President of the Tafo Golf Club praised Goil for sponsoring the competition and called on other corporate bodies to help develop the sport across the country. He stressed that companies should not underrate other disciplines since they can all be used in building a peaceful nation or bringing togetherness.
Mr. Yaw Agyeman Duah, Managing Director of Goil Ghana Limited gave the assurance that his company would continue to assist the Ghana Golf Association in all its activities.
"Goil is committed to sharing the goodies of the company with sponsorship of Golf and other sporting events. We have even demonstrated this by fuelling the Ghanaian Soccer fans who thronged Burkina Faso to cheer the Stallions on to victory in their World Cup battle with South Africa", he remarked.
Professor Michael Ben George, President of the Ghana Golf association who witnessed the event commended GOIL for their generosity in providing the many trophies and Presentations for the competition that is gradually becoming the preserve of Tafo.
He also praised the grounds men of the Club for their excellent work in making the course playable
