Baggio sets eyes on coaching.

Whilst on tour in Japan, Italian legend Roberto Baggio has declared that he is ready to make an emotional comeback to the world of football.

Unfortunately for fans of the Azzurri this intended comeback is not in a playing capacity, but rather in a coaching role.

Baggio was expected to keep his distance from the game following his retirement in 2004, but it appears that 'Il Divino' has had a change of heart and is willing to step back into the limelight.

"I am currently out of the game because that is a choice that I made myself," said the Italian icon.

"But I cannot exclude the possibility of a return at some point in the future. I already have some offers that I am considering. "When the right time comes I will make what I believe is the right decision.

The recent decision of former AC Milan star Marco Van Basten to turn to the coaching scene appears to have caught Baggio's imagination, but the retired forward believes that unlike the Dutchman, he will have to bide his time and establish himself at club level first.

"Marco Van Basten started his career by immediately sitting on the Holland bench," cited Baggio.

"The situation in Italy is different though and I think you need to embark on a gradual process, starting with a club side."

Upon learning of Baggio's intentions, Inter patron Massimo Moratti insisted that there was a place for the legend at Inter. "There will always be room for him at Inter," said Moratti.

"It is only normal and logical for a person like him. We would be honoured if he came here. We would decide together on what role he would take up."

Moratti previously enjoyed a working friendship with Baggio when the player signed from Bologna after the 1998 World Cup.

Despite Moratti's comments, the future of current Inter boss Roberto Mancini is not under threat, with Baggio likely to take on an assistant's role in his learning process.
