8m-Euro Spanish Fund to Boost Ghana

The Spanish Government has released an eight million euro- soft aid development fund to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture for the construction of Solar P.V. Powered water pumping irrigation project in major maize growing areas throughout Ghana.
The project which commences early next year will be completed within 16 months. Three million euros out of the total amount is meant for mechanical irrigation. Installation work will be carried out by ISOFOTON S.A- Madrid, Spain.
The project aims at modernizing agriculture and ensuring multiple crop cultivation all year round.
The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Mr Ernest Debrah signed the Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the Government of Ghana and a representative of ISOFOTON, S.A. Madrid, Spain in charge of Africa Asia and Middle East, who are the official contractors to execute the project signed for the Spanish Government.
