Cell phone smuggling syndicate busted

The Customs Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) has busted a cellular phone smuggling gang at the Aviance cargo section at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
Two thousand, five hundred and forty seven pieces of assorted cellular phone estimated to generate four hundred and twenty- five million cedis (¢425,000,000.00) revenue to the state were intercepted.
Meanwhile, measures have been put in place to track down others that may be in the illegal business importing mobile phone contrary to Custom Excise and Preventive Service Management Law, PNDC law 330of 1993.
The CEPS reaffirms its avowed aim of balancing trade with diplomacy and assures the general public that security and trade facilitation will not be compromised.
