Those who think we should not credit the present government with the Black Stars World Cup qualification must ask Accra FM radio stations what they thought they were doing when they were calling on E T. Mensah sometime ago to comment on Ghana's "football failures" in the NPP regime. They even cynically asked E. T. Mensah if he would accept to be the sports minister if Kufuor asked him to take the position; the NDC crticized the NPP for combining the Education Ministry and the Youth & Sports Ministry.
Did anyone hear Victor Smith wishing the Black Stars good luck on behalf of Jerry Rawlings? Somebody tell me! But for politics would the Stars need any special good will message from citizen Rawlings after the PRESIDENT (and we have only one president) had sent the Stars a message on behalf of ALL Ghanaians? Who said football is like war? Gen. Arnold Quainoo. To the NDC politics is like war, so football is like politics. People can deceive themselves. But the NPP must make NOISE.
Qualifying for the World Cup for the very first time is the best thing that has happened to Ghana for so many years. And it has happened in Kufuor's time. Whether by hard work or good luck it has happened in the NPP's time. Like it or hate, it is good for the NPP politically. Akwasi Acheampong
