He said, "The party is not burning as people wanted to paint it. It is only that people are being excited to hold offices in the party?It is inherent in man to aim at a certain position in any given human society and sometimes if one was not satisfied with what he or she got, one tended to feel that the rule did not favour him or her which sometimes leads to protests."

Hid concede however that there are grounds for dissatisfaction: "We must confess that there are pockets of disaffections but one cannot draw a common strand between them and we are doing our best to solve the problems as they come up."

He said at the moment six constituencies - Weija, Ledzokuku, Odododiodoo, Krowor, Abokobi-Madina and Okaikwei North all have cases in court.

"What is happening in the party is normal and it happens in any grouping, be it political or non-political where people jostle for power. In the case of the NPP in the Greater Accra Region, people are enthusiastic in their quest to win power, forgetting that the party has structures and a constitution that stipulates how elections are to be conducted from the polling station to the constituency level.It is when they come face to face with this reality that they begin to create the impression that all is not well." Mr Solomon said.

Mr. Solomon, a legal practitioner who would be seeking the party's chairmanship slot at the Regional Delegates Conference on November 5, said the party has the structures to deal with most of the problems without anyone having to resort to the law court to seek redress.

Mr. Solomon said 19 out of the 27 constituencies in the region had held Constituency Delegates Conferences. "Most people think the problems coming up have to do with selection of delegates for the various constituency elections in readiness for the regional conferences but that is not wholly the truth

"In the case of Odododiodoo, the plaintiffs are demanding the resignation of the whole constituency executives, claiming that their tenure of office had elapsed."

He assured that even with these court cases the regional executives are working assiduously to have the cases resolved within the party structures.

Mr. Solomon revealed that they had so far succeeded on some fronts, like in the Weija Constituency, where the case has now been taken out of court. He said in Ledzokuku, the plaintiff was advised to resort to party structures to have his grievances resolved.
