Ameyaw-Ekumfi inspects Accra-Tema railway

Ports, Harbours and Railways Minister Prof. Christopher Ameyaw Ekumfi yesterday visited some portions of the Accra-Tema railway, which is currently undergoing rehabilitation to assess progress on it. The Government of Ghana and the OPEC Fund for International Development are providing funds for the project, which costs US$5.5 million.

The Minister's team, made up of Alhaji M.N.D. Jawula, Chief Director of the Ministry, Mr. Emmanuel Opoku, Acting Managing Director of the Ghana Railways Company Limited and other officials of the Company, first visited the Messrs PW Ghana Limited Yard at Airport, where the Minister inspected some items meant for the project.

The items included 585 pieces of rails estimated at 479,000 Euros and steel sleepers and Pandrol clips valued at US$ 420,000.

The Minister also visited a portion of the railway at Airport, which was affected during the extension of the Kotoka International Airport runway.
