Chief urge Ghanaians to support the NHIS

Nana Okru Baah, the Chief of Gomoa Achiase near Agona Swedru in the Gomoa District, appealed to Ghanaians to support the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), to enable them have access to good quality health care for national development.

Nana Baah said this, when he addressed his people to climax the annual Akwambo festival at Gomoa Achiase, at the weekend.

He expressed regret that the District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme has not yet taken off, and appealed to students to educate their parents on the significance of the scheme.

Nana Baah also urged the management and board of the District Mutual Health Insurance to adopt effective strategies to educate the people to register with the scheme.

He appealed to the District Assembly to assist the people to execute projects to develop education, health and sanitation in the town and to assist them have access to the poverty alleviation fund to improve on their living standards.

Nana Baah said for the past years, the people of Gomoa Achiase had provided educational facilities on their own, adding that a computer center was under construction with assistance from a non- governmental Organization.

Mr David Cudjoe, Assemblyman for Achiase Electoral Area, said the people were building a three[unit classroom block with an office and store, estimated at 350 million cedis, expected to be completed in two years.

He said school children had to walk many kilometres to attend junior secondary school (JSS) at Gomoa Beseadze (JSS) since there was none at Gomoa Achiase. Mr Cudjoe, therefore, appealed to the Assembly to provide the town with a jss block to enhance education.
