World Cup budget for South Africa

South Africa will spend up to US$810 million on infrastructure for the 2010 World Cup, the country's National Treasury has announced.
Presenting the government's 2006 budget, Finance Minister Trevor Manuel said about USŁ486m of this would be set aside over the next three fiscal years.
"Details of project allocations have not yet been allocated, but we will spend up to US$810m in dedicated infrastructure for the World Cup," Manuel said.
South Africa has secured the rights to host the 2010 showpiece and plans to use a maximum of 10 stadiums - five of which will be constructed, with the remainder being refurbished.
"I understand that both the national football side and the cricket team have volunteered to do unpaid clearing of building rubble," joked Manuel.
The 2010 World Cup will be the first finals to ever be staged in Africa.
