Mr. Daniel Dugan, the Deputy Minister of Fisheries, has cautioned students against allowing themselves to be lured by some politicians into taking part in violent demonstrations against the passage of the Representation of the People (Amendment) Act (ROPAA) by Parliament.
Speaking at the 48th Anniversary Speech and Prize Giving Day of Pope John Secondary School and Junior Seminary, Effiduase-Koforidua, he explained that the Act was meant to allow Ghanaians living everywhere to vote.
He said the implementation of the Act would enable the country to have data on Ghanaians abroad for national development as other countries like the US do.
Mr. Dugan called on educational institutions to go into aquaculture to improve their nutritional requirements. In that regard, he assured them of technical support from the Ministry of Fisheries.
On Avian flu, he asked students to be alert and report any outbreak of the disease in their poultry farms to the authorities for immediate action.
Mr. Dugan, who is an old student of the school, stressed the need for discipline and hard work by the students in order to maintain or improve on the high academic and moral standards set by their predecessors.
