Although the Serbian coach had been fiercely criticised for Ghana’s first-round exit at the African Cup of Nations, it was thought the coach had been given the backing to take the team to the World Cup finals.

But Nyantakyi, who passed through London on his way to watch the Black Stars friendly against Mexico in the USA on 1 March, said the matter was still open for discussion.

“No firm decision has been taken to retain or sack the coach,” Nyantekyi told BBC Sport on Sunday.

“We are reviewing the situation and we have to proceed with caution and great care. “By the time we go back to Accra, we will have made a decision.

“We will look at the team’s performance so far, including the Mexican match, and we will take a definitive decision on whether the coach will lead us to the World Cup finals.”

Dujkovic earned a place in Ghana’s football history by becoming the first coach to earn the four-time African champions a place at the forthcoming World Cup finals. The West Africans, who will play their opening Group E match against Italy, will also face the Czech Republic and the USA during the group stages.
