"Patriots" remember Nkrumah

A week-long of special activities was organized by "The Patriots" of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's political party, the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), to mark the 40th Anniversary of his overthrow from office on February 24 1996.
A photo exhibition of his nine-year rule , and a re-launch of his books were held at the GNAT Hall in Accra. The exposure was purposefully aimed at offering the general public, particularly the youth the opportunity to have an idea of Nkrumah's life, achievements, works and books.
Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, in his nine year rule of Ghana and during his six years in exile in the Republic of Guinea, authored 22 titles in which his political, social, economic and industrial visions for Ghana, Africa and the world were well articulated.
On his death, the Republic of Guinea described him as the "Greatest African". This was engraved on his coffin. A BBC poll also proclaimed him "The Millennium Man of Africa".
Hensteve Publications Limited, at the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre La, Accra, is the Pan-African author's books distributor, in the West Africa sub region and holds the franchise for PANAF Books, London, UK, established by Nkrumah before his death in Bucharest, Romania in 1972 for the propagation of his literally heritage as well as those of the other leading Pan-Africanist authors. The Osagyefo's books were burnt and banned from publication and circulation by the military-junta that removed him from office in 1966.
Among Nkrumah's topical publications are: Kwame Nkrumah - A Biography, The Dark Days in Ghana; Ghana, Africa Must Unite; Neo-Colonialism-The Last Stage of Imperialism: I Speak of Freedom: Class Struggle in African; The Rhodesia File, The Challenge of the Congo: The Struggle continues.

A special package of 29 copies from the different titles was auctioned for nearly thirty-million cedis (C30m) during the anniversary celebrations..
